Another interesting article. The Republicans have apparently given up all semblance of subtlety and instead went directly for the jugular. After the Foley scandal and the sense that the war in Iraq is a complete failure, the Republicans are clearly adrift at sea with the upcoming elections coming up.

The widespread thought is that if the Democrats sweep into Congress in these midterm elections, then Bush will essentially be neutered. Of course, given Bush's track record of "working with" the other branches of government, it may mean nothing.

Nonetheless, the commercials are clearly attempting to harp on American's fear of self-preservation. The corollaries are obvious: the war in Iraq is noble and we should all continue to support the effort. Compare that rhertoric with the article, recently written by Kevin Tillman, the brother of Pat Tillman, the former NFL player who died in Afghanistan. Now, which one of these accounts sounds more reasonable and accurate to you?
